Origami Gift Bag

Thanks to Pearlie and her awesome info-packed Origami blog – I came across a tutorial for making Origami Gift Bags. You can read Pearlie’s post here and find the original video tutorial here.

As an avid earring maker, it is a constant improvement process as I find packaging to suit my earrings, which is eco-friendly and which is easy to make (and also cheap!). I used to make the origami gift boxes to give the earrings in but it was too much of an expense in terms of effort and paper. This paper bag however uses a single square sheet and some ribbon or twine for the handles so it is just right for me. Maybe I’ll have to make it with newspaper for it to be more eco-friendly!

Here’s my second attempt at making the origami gift bag – the paper I used on my first attempt was too thick to punch holes for the handles so I didn’t complete the bag.

For this gift bag, I used a square of orange handmade paper, some fevicol to glue down the tabs and a rope handle that I cut from another paper bag I got from a shop.
